One of my weekly rituals is to watch Masterpiece Mystery on PBS. This week premiered a new series originally from the BBC. Sherlock is an edgy, contemporary adaptation of the classic by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It takes place in 21st Century London and the story lines have been updated to include current world events and technology. Even Sherlock himself has a website...

The extraordinary cast includes Benedict Cumberpatch as the infamous Sherlock Holmes, Martin Freeman as the loyal sidekick Dr. John Watson, and Rupert Graves as Detective Inspector Lestrade. I especially loved Cumberpatch's characterization. He has a cocky swagger that's really fun to watch. I really enjoyed Sunday's episode. It was witty, engaging, well shot, and it had some fun tidbits that loyal fans will appreciate. The first season is a bit short with only three 90 minute episodes but the series has been renewed for a second season! Did anyone watch Sunday's episode? If you want to catch up, for a short amount of time, PBS has episodes you can watch online.

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution

Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution is such a great cause and I admire anyone who uses their fame for good. I'm sure many of you are watching his show on ABC. Mattson Creative + Lost

Mattson Creative designed these 8 silk-screened posters to celebrate the last season of Lost. I think they are all pretty great and represent the show really well. The numbers, the black smoke, the radio tower with french text, and the Dharma vans are my favorites. So far, the black smoke poster is especially relevant to the theme of this season. Lost!!

The premiere of Lost: The Final Season airs tonight. I'm so excited I can barely stand it! I've spent years watching, and waiting, and discussing every episode and the end starts now...

I'm with Coco

This evening was the last taping of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. This whole drama at NBC has been pretty frustrating. Shows used to have some time to build their audience and prove what they could do. In my opinion, Conan was doing a great job. I've been a fan of his for a few years now, so it's been  hard to watch how poorly he has been treated. He should have been able to have his shot. 7 months didn't seem long enough. He has become collateral damage because of some poor programing decisions. However, as I just finished watching his last show, I can't help but say that Conan O'Brien is a class act. Rather than being negative about his situation, he chooses to be grateful for his opportunities. His last sentiments are to the young fans. Life sometimes gives you situations or events that you never anticipated or dreamed of. Disappointments happen. Refuse to be cynical. If you work hard and are kind, amazing things will happen to you. That's a pretty remarkable legacy to leave with The Tonight Show. He has left a legacy of optimism and the belief that with hard work your dreams are within your reach. Coco, I'm with you. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.  

Ricky and the Globes

I can't wait to see Ricky Gervais hosting the Golden Globes! I first saw him in the British version of The Office and then started listening to his podcasts. Now a few films later, he's hosting the Globes! Anyone want to bet he'll mention that Karl Pilkington's head is the shape of a Golden Globe??
